Above is a picture of our 18 yr-old Toyota Camry and 30-yr old rental house. Coincidentally, both are white! See the tree in front of our house, no flowers yet when this picture was taken! It was still very cold then.
Comparing with the below picture, flowers have bloomed. We will also have free lemons (smaller tree to the right is a lemon tree!). Well, the grass has grown much taller too. Guess we'll just leave it as it is for now as we've got no lawn mower, probably have to borrow from neighbours soon.
As I spent most of my time in the house now, having a nice front garden really brightens up my mood! And the thing is, it even comes with a 'free morning alarm'! Every morning, the birds will have 'meeting' on the trees in the front garden and its like a free alarm to wake us up!Yesterday, saw my neighbour doing gardening so I pretend to go out and throw rubbish & talked to her. Our neighbours are two oldies who have retired & spent most of their time at home too. They came from South America more than 30 years ago. In fact, the old lady didn't speak a word of English when she came to Australia back then! I thought its very brave of her! The couple now grows their own vegetables in their backyard and in a rented plot of land in a farm. How nice to not have to buy vegetables from supermarket, esp when there is a drought now and the vegetable prices have increased tremendously. Will definitely learn from them in the future!
