Videos

I find it difficult to blog nowadays.. my mind has gone blank. I don't know what to write, don't know what to post. Perhaps I'm so focused on baby ...I mean in a positive way. Everyday when I wake up, I can't wait to see her happy smile, can't wait to hug her first thing. She fascinates me in so many ways. Like today, I have placed a lot of toys in a toy ship and she actually picks out her favourite bee toy, among the many animal toys in the ship!

Will post some videos then. Enjoy!

Above: Got scolding from mom for letting Shannyn play with her spoon like this. Opps! She said that she might choke.. well, guess she has a point there too. But its so funny the way she bit the spoon!

First Movie with Shannyn

On Tuesday, I brought Shannyn to watch a movie. Yes, a real movie at the cinema. Its been ages since I went to watch a show at the cinema. The nearby shopping centre had organised a free talk for mothers with babies and bundled the "Sex and the City" movie after the talk. Well, the movie lasted longer than the talk (which was only 15mins)! To my surprise, the personnel said that they actually have special movie screenings for parents on Wed mornings at the Village Cinemas. This meant that parents can bring their babies and kids to watch a movie together and what is so different about such screenings is that they have made it 'child-friendly' with increased lighting (in case we need to get out of the cinema for nappy change/feeding) and reduced sounds (as sudden loud sounds can frighten babies). And most importantly, we won't be embarrassed when our babies cry and scream and its actually expected for such special screenings! So there is certainly no need to make sure that our babies keep quiet throughout the movie!

Well, just 15 mins into the movie, babies began screaming and so did mine. I had to get out of the cinema and take a brief stroll outside before going back in. As its time for a nap, Shannyn fell asleep shortly after we went back in. But not for long.... she woke only after half an hour and it was already 1pm. I could literally hear my stomach growling and thought that she must be hungry too. Besides, there were more than 10 prams outside the cinema which meant that going back down could take some time after the movie as we need to use the one and only lift there. So I decided to go off first before the movie ended. I totally enjoyed the movie. Samantha has always been my favourite character in the movie as she was extremely non-chalent and hilarious!

After feeding Shannyn, I went to the foodcourt and headed straight to get myself a Big Mac meal. As I was having my burger, I really missed my friends Lisa and Bev, who had left Melbourne. I remembered that they were the ones who first brought me to the shopping centre and we had a meal together at the foodcourt and I had Big Mac then. I missed them so much. But what's changed is that I now have Shannyn to accompany me and well, she was playing with her bee toy while I took my lunch. After lunch, I shopped for a while before going Coles to get some groceries & junk food. It was already 3pm when I decided it was time to head home. When the bus arrived, I didn't know what to do as it was an old bus and there were staircases up the bus. I definitely couldn't lift the pram onto the bus by myself. To my surprise, the bus driver actually came down and helped me carry the pram onto the bus!! I was sooo grateful.

It was such a fun day and although I didn't make any friends during the event, I'm so glad that I managed a day outside with Shannyn. I was rather sceptical whether I could handle it and had butterflies in my stomach early in the morning. I even spilled the Milo that Sean had prepared for me during breakfast! Hmm.. thinking back, its not that hard after all. She tends to be quite cooperative when we are out of the house! The moment we came back, she started to throw her tantrums again.. argh!

New pics

Its been some time since I upload Shannyn's pics. Here are some new pics. I realise that she has a lot of hair and its getting 'out of control'! Have cut her hair countless times as it could get really messy and kept poking her eyes! But she does have some bald spot behind as she's rather sadistic and keeps pulling out her hair esp when she's sleepy.

Rainy Night

Had spaghetti tonight. Everyone had changed into our thick Winter clothes and were ready to hit the shopping mall when Sean gasped "Its raining outside!" Oh my, I hate rainy night.. wet and cold. So I said "Lets stay at home then". Well, so here I am writing this blog and waiting for Amazing Race to show..felt so sleepy already. Here's the weather forecast for the next few days. Seems like good weather the following week!

Weekend Thrill

Last Sat, we went for a stroll around our neighbourhood. Although the sun was shining strong, I still felt a little chilly. Down the same street, we got to know a neighbour (Michael, he said that he has 3 kids, one of which is only 4 months old). Cool.. probably Shannyn's new friends in the near future? We walked to the nearby milkbar (aka the 'mama shop') and decided to rent a DVD back. It was only a reasonable AUD$2 for an overnight rent. There were so many choices and we were stuck there for like half an hour, contemplating which movie to watch for the night. In the end, we settled for 'Jumper' since the girl at the shop said it was new (just came in yesterday) and 4 out of the 6 Jumper DVDs had been rented out which could imply positive reviews.

On our way home, we went for another stroll around a nearby street. As we stopped to admire some beautiful flowers in someone's front garden, we happened to see a lady cleaning her car and got acquainted with her and her family (Nicole, Phillip and their 1yr old son, Felix). Their front garden was one of the well-decorated ones with colourful flowers. They were very friendly and even invited us to visit their backyard! We should actually walk around our neighbourhood more often and meet more friends.

The highlight of this entry was actually the 'Jumper' DVD. A thriller. The story was about a young man who was able to teleport himself. If I could have one superpower, I would want to be able to teleport.. it has always been my 'fantasy'! Imagine my excitement when I discovered that the movie was about teleporting. I totally enjoyed the movie.. there were no obscene or scary scenes, just pure thrill... I wanted to watch it the second time the moment it ended! The next morning, I kept thinking about the movie and couldn't sleep.. so I woke up at 7am and started to do the laundry! Haha! It was a brief movie though, at only 1h20mins.. I certainly look forward to a sequel of the movie!

Driving Range (Autumn 08)

(Where are we ??? So bored..)

When the sun is out, we always feel like going outdoors for activities and enjoy some "free" Vitamin D. One cool day in late April, Sean suggested to go to the Driving Range for golf. I've never played golf and never been to a driving range before. It was such a fantastic sport...One which can release your stress and vent your frustrations as you try to focus on the tiny ball on the floor and hit it as hard as you can when the club hits the ball! And it can be played at any season too. I missed my first hit and was giggling away as I felt so stupid yet hilarious. Can't remember how far was my furthest hit..probably only 100m or less. Sean managed to hit much further than that! But after the game, there were some abrasion on my fingers and my wrist seemed a bit strained. Perhaps my position was not correct.. guess we'll need more runs to correct that! Besides, a brief 1-2h of fun at the driving range really made me more energized than ever!

LONGish POO

For those of you who are going for breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea break.. I'd suggest that you skip this next entry. After my previous posting of food, I know that I shouldn't spoil everyone's appetite but here it goes...

Ever since Shannyn is on formula & solids, her poo is no longer yellowish and sweet-smelling. It is now dark green and stinks! Yesterday, I was changing her nappy and she sort of knew and made use of the 'time' and poo 3 LONG strands of shit! OMG... I have never seen her poo this much before!! Was at a loss on what to do then as her nappy could not hold that much poo! Luckily the wipes were finishing and I used the plastic cover of the wipes to contain the remaining output.
(Can you believe that this is the poo of a 6mth old baby?!! Looks like adult's poo right?)

Pork Rashes

"Inspired" by my friend, Jo's recipe which she posted on her blog, I managed to whip up a somewhat similar dish. Looks good right? Yummy! A bit oily though due to the fatty parts. Sean was saying "Careful, wait chao da" Well, I like it a bit burnt too! Hmm...why do men like to give comments when women are cooking? They might as well take over then.. haaa! Jo, keep posting the yummy recipes ya?
